#10 COVID-19 Impact on MIT2020 design

Today we had our 3rd hui (done online through Google Meet), it was supposed to be our second one at KPMG but post lockdown, things are still not back to normal.
It was great to see everyone again and hear how their first week back at school went in Level 2. Lots of similar stories of incredible resilience and self directed learning from our students. It has reaffirmed my belief that students are sponges, and given the opportunity and autonomy they can extend themselves more than we give them credit for.
During lockdown I was able to use some of the resources I had begun to make for my project. I realised that while I had initially thought that this tool would be aimed at teacher use, it could also be used as a self directed study tool for students.
I shared my initial bones of my prototype as it is at this stage with my MIT colleagues to seek feedback. This was really helpful and gave me some good ideas to focus on to move forward. I had made a question and a Q&A sheet for each journal story PDF on google docs. Someone suggested using Google Forms to that the A. it marks itself and the student gets an instant response, and B, the teacher gets the data to focus on.
I immediately saw the benefit of that and began to turn my first resource (Cats, who needs them? Level 2) into a google form quiz response.
Here is the pdf of the story followed by the google form response

I will make a few more and then focus on the kahoots and student videos. I would also like to be able to use the idea of making the explanation of the types of questions more student friendly. Watch this space!

  1. Kia ora Sarah. I really like this idea of a form to go with the text. I like how the types of question align with the PROBE questions. Hopefully this will mean learners are more confident when completing these assessments. Did you have any thoughts about including questions that were not multiple choice?
