ANZAC Day - A day in the trenches

For ANZAC Day learning, we decided to do things a little bit different. The three teachers in my ILE dressed in black with army face paint and turned our learning space into trenches for the day. The students had no idea what was going on as we had covered all of the windows and doors. They spent the day on their hands knees and stomachs trying to complete learning tasks while the noise of gunfire and bombs sounded over speakers. It was a fantastic learning experience. The feedback we got from whanau was great.

Here is a link to my class blog so you can see all of the fun.

  1. Hi Sarah, What a super creative way of bringing the ANZAC story to life. These young people will never forget this and will no doubt have developed an interest that may take them to some interesting places.
