#5 Empathy session - using role play and a poster do gain deeper understanding of the needs of the people involved

Matt and Dorothy put their acting skills back on display as they role played a problem and a solution. Dorothy came to Matt with a problem of wanting to grow and use fresh herbs but having as she went away a lot, her garden lacked water.
They worked through how by asking questions and using empathy they eventually got to the root of the problem and Matt was able to design a product that Dorothy could never have imagined herself. we then role played ourselves with a product...we had to determine what the 'problem' was that led to it being invented. Mine and Angela's was a travel plug adapter.

This led to us brainstorming on a poster what the influences, causes, behaviours and characteristics that we thought contributed to the problem. This was a good exercise to help us determine all of the factors involved...which could help determine a possible solution.
